The C32 Marine Engine made by Caterpillar is a marine propulsion style engine. It is made with ACERT technology to be durable and reliable throughout years of intense use. Its strong ACERT block is built for superior power that allows the operator to utilize an application at its peak point without compromising the engine's life span. It is constructed with a performance iron that has passed through thousands of hours of quality control tests to guarantee that it will be able to power applications when called upon.
Environmentally Friendly and Fuel Efficient
The C32 Marine Engine is also environmentally friendly. It meets the current standards of EU Stage III, EPA Tier 2, and the IMO emission regulations. It is built with a foundation that will empower it to meet even more stringent emissions requirements that will arrive in the future. The engine is also incredibly fuel efficient as it has a premier fuel system expertise that decreases the amount of fuel that is used. This specifically occurs at the “part load”. The engine also produces far less emissions and smoke compared to other engines made in the past as well as competing engines that are currently on the market.
Specifics
According to Caterpillar, the engine is has a mechanically actuated electronically controlled unit injector fuel system. This system offers a special variable injection timing that boosts combustion at a variety of speed and loading levels. It took Caterpillar over two decades to refine this fuel system technology to reach the point that it is at today. There is also a wide operating speed range that provides high levels of power across a broad range of speeds. This provides superior reserve power when quick acceleration is required by work boats, tugboats, towboats, water jet propulsion and dredges. This is a convenient alternative to traditional multi-speed transmissions, torque converters and controllable pitch propellers.
Dimensions and Characteristics
In terms of the engine's dimension, it is 56.8 inches wide, 59.9 inches in height and it weighs 7106 pounds. It has a cooled heat exchanger, keel cooling and a Cat C2 ACERT instrument panel. Its lube oil system refill capacity is 36.5 gallons and it has an oil change interval of 500 hours with a major overhaul interval of 2,000,000 liters of fuel. The advantages of this type of engine are wide ranging. It offers an integrated marine power display so that the operator can easily monitor the engine, effective local controls and a quick response time. Options include local speed control, horn, marine analog power display and local e-stop warning indicators.
