The Cat 3512 is a V-12, four-stroke Diesel propulsion set. V engines are some of the most sought-after internal combustion engine configurations. Their pistons and cylinders are aligned in two separate planes to a form a V-shape when viewed from the axis of the crankshaft. This configuration reduces overall engine dimensions; length, height and even weight, compared to inline configurations.
In the V-12 engine, 12 cylinders are mounted on the crankcase, usually in two planes of six cylinders each. In most cases the cylinders are placed at angles of 60° to each other. All the 12 cylinders drive a common crankshaft. One major advantage of this alignment is that it eliminates the need for balance shafts; no matter the type of V-angle formed, primary and secondary balance is always perfect. Moreover, in heavy duty machines, this engine can run slower than smaller engines often resulting in prolonged engine life.

Enormous engine displacement
The Marine 3512B has an engine displacement of 51.8L (). Displacement is a measure of the volume of the engine’s cylinders which is also an indicator of the engine’s power and size. The size of the cylinders directly influences the size of explosion inside them and by that determines the power of an engine.
ADEM Technology
ADEM III Controllers are only used on select diesel engines where they act as the main Electronic Control Module (ECM). They are used to control Electronic Unit Projector (EUI) operated engines. The controllers are composed of control software, ADEM III ECM, sensors, fuel injectors, actuators, and an interface to the system. ADEM Controllers play a significant role in bettering control and maintenance of particulate emissions, both transient and steady state. They also greatly improve engine performance compared to the Machine Unit Injector.
ADEM controllers are designed to be; Durable Reliable Self-diagnostic Simple Accurate
Benefits; Droop or isochronous speed control Better fuel injection timing and limiting Adjustable monitoring of critical engine components Rated/idle speed setting Adjustable cool-down timing Programmable ramp rate, speed, and acceleration And remote monitoring/control (optional feature)
Engine mounted instrumentation panel
The panel has; A four-position switch Emergency stop notification lighting Shutdown notification lighting An alarm horn A secondary Electronic Control Module (ECM) active light and a secondary ECM ready light. Graphical display area for digital and/or analog display of; fuel and oil pressure and filter differential; system Direct Current voltage, air inlet restriction, fuel consumption, service meter, and water and exhaust temperature
