Our History
Depco Power Systems was founded in January 1991 by Tim Felty and Dick Davis in Alvin, Texas, originally operating as Diesel Engine & Parts Co. Later that year, Tadd Stickler joined the team, becoming a key contributor to company’s growth and direction.
Starting as a modest supplier of used Detroit Diesel engine parts, Depco quickly gained traction by supporting DDA dealers nationwide with quality components for engine rebuilds. By the early 1990s, we had expanded into complete engine sales, including Detroit Diesel, Caterpillar, and Cummins models.
In 1993, we moved into our current facility on Hillsboro Street in Houston - equipped with overhead cranes to safely handle large power units and support our growing operations.
Over the years, several milestones have shaped Depco’s evolution:
- 1993 – A Boats & Harbors ad connected us with Super Zone, a Chinese generator packaging company. This sparked a decade of exporting thousands of engines to Southeast Asia, before the internet revolutionized global trade.
- Late 1990s – The Y2K scare fueled demand for backup generators, marking Depco’s entry into generator set sales.
- Early 2000s – We rebranded as Depco Power Systems to reflect our evolution into full-scale power solutions.
- 2004 – The passing of co-founder Tim Felty marked a profound moment in our history. His legacy continues to shape our approach through what we call "the Depco Way."
Over the decades, Depco has grown into a trusted global supplier of power equipment by staying true to our roots—strategic growth, conservative values, and a commitment to quality and reliability.
